Quote of the Day:
Creation is a symbolic narrative of the beginning of the world as understood in a particular tradition and community — in other words, Creation myths tell us how things began. Let us explore this further. As cultures, we identify ourselves through the collective dreams we call Creation myths or Cosmogonies; they explain in metaphorical terms our sense of who we are in the context of the world. All cultures have Creation myths that are of central importance for the valuation of the world, for the orientation of humans in the universe, and for the basic patterns of life and culture. As an example of a Creation story, in Taoist Cosmogony, the Tao (Way) gave birth to Unity; Unity gave birth to Duality; Duality gave birth to Trinity; Trinity gave birth to the myriad creatures. The myriad creatures bear Yin on their back, and embrace Yang in their bosoms. Yin and Yang neutralize each other, and hence the unification brings about dynamic balance. Thus, the world is a dance of the two opposing, yet harmonious forces in the universe: Yin and Yang, mystery and form.
